Efficient Communication For Hotels: Safeguard Your Guests With Two-Way Radios

As large and busy venues with a constant stream of guests coming and going and round-the-clock operations, hotels are a challenging communication landscape for staff. Staff working at front of house, for instance, may not know what’s going on in the bar on the third floor, and it may not be easy for cleaning teams working on the sixth floor to communicate with their storage and logistics colleagues in the basement, and so on! From a management perspective, running a busy hotel is akin to conducting an orchestra. Each team and employee must work in harmony to deliver a great experience for your guests.

What role do two-way radios play in helping your team work together more productively and efficiently?

Promotes efficient communication

In hotels, not only is it important for staff to have the means to communicate efficiently, but they must be seen to communicate efficiently, too. Staff who appear flustered, or who are unable to call for help or contact their colleagues, do not make a positive impression on guests. The ability to communicate efficiently across all areas of your hotel, from housekeeping to the car park, gives your guests the vital assurance that they are in capable hands, helping them relax and enjoy their stay.

Respond quickly to crises

If an emergency occurs, instant communication can prevent a difficult situation from spiralling out of control. This is especially important if one of your guests experiences a health emergency, for instance, or if a kitchen appliance or hairdryer in a bedroom sets off a fire alarm. Staff need the tools to act quickly when required, coordinating with colleagues, reporting incidents without delay, and taking the appropriate action – without physically having to leave their post to traverse the hotel.

Breaks down department silos

Hotels are large establishments, so it’s common for different teams to operate as silos without much contact with their colleagues. This can improve the ability of staff to concentrate on their individual roles, but it can also slow down communication. A system of two-way radios will help to remove unhelpful barriers between different areas and departments in your establishment, so that colleagues can collaborate more effectively. Two-way radios also help to avoid bottlenecks by allowing colleagues to call for assistance, e.g. to reduce waiting times for guests checking in at busy times, or reducing the response time if your maintenance team needs to address a water leak.
